Morning Reflection

Morning Reflection
12x9 oil on gessobord

After evacuating for Hurricane Irma all last week I was finally able to get outside and paint again this morning over by the Bradenton Beach Marina. The rising sun was casting a lovely glow on the side of these two boats and seemed a worthy enough subject to paint! Because I'm all about that light...

Where the Party's At

Where the Party's At
14x11 oil on gesso board

Apparently the real party was the night before, or so I was told by those still hanging out under the blue-tarped tiki hut this Labor Day morning. One guy said he slept all night on the lounge chair there in the foreground. Sure hope this structure is still standing after Hurricane Irma passes through later this week.

Dappled Sands and Inviting

Dappled Sand
12x12 oil on canvas

Enjoyed a wonderful morning capturing the light with my friend and AWESOME painter
Stephen Bach today! It was a bit bit windy, but we found some nice shade. I even had the pleasure of introducing him to The Donut Experiment afterwards, just down the street.
These were my 2 pieces from our painting session.

Beckoning

This one was painted by the beach path off of Sycamore on the north end of the island, a plein air study for a larger studio piece I'm working on.

Nothing Gold Can Stay & Softly Beckoning

Nothing Gold Can Stay
30x30 oil on gallery wrapped canvas

Softly Beckoning
30x30 oil on gallery wrapped canvas

These are a few studio pieces that will likely be in the "Featured Artists of the Light Chasers" Show at Palm Avenue Gallery of Fine Art in Sarasota November 3rd-10th. I've been enjoying the larger format, using my big brushes, and the cool comfort of my air conditioned studio lately, now that it's August in Florida!
